“Tanggol” in Tagalog means “protect or defend.” Defend Migrant Workers is a campaign network to defend our kababayan. Migrante USA, the International Migrants Alliance (IMA), the National Alliance for Filipino Concerns (NAFCON), Kabataan Alliance, and Gabriela USA have joined together to protect and defend our community during this critical time in the world today. It recognizes that we are stronger when we come together and take action rather than falling victim to ideas that try to divide and turn us against one another.

The Defend Migrant Workers Campaign takes up the struggles of migrant Filipino workers everywhere fighting against exploitation and oppression heightening under this current political climate. Some issues include: Filipino migrants being held in detention, caregivers experiencing wage theft, and stranded trafficked seafarers.
